Week One in Photos

The Big Day!
Minutes after delivery.
Shortly after being moved to postpartum, about 3 hrs after delivery.
One Day Old:
Daddy's First Diaper Change!
Telling Secrets with Aunt Vicky.
Rockin' the hearing test! :)
First (Mommy fully clothed) Family Photo!

Two Days Old: Homecoming!
Sleepy Daddy (it was about 4am)
Mommy telling Camy (again) how much she is loved.
Warming up her heel before the blood draw for the state screen.
(My little rock star didn't even cry!)
Mommy was burning up in the days post partum..
Daddy was freezing (hence the sweatshirt above!)!
How many new parents does it take to buckle in a newborn?
So cute all buckled in! Look at all that chub!
On our way down to the car!!
And we're off! Can't wait to get home!
Look at our sweet, tiny girl in her big ol' bed!
(She stayed there long enough for the photo op
before we swooped her back up for more cuddling!)
Three Days Old: Saturday
Saturday was a really rough day for everyone.
We had a pediatrician's appointment first thing in the morning to recheck her bilirubin levels (jaundice) because they were moderate-high at discharge. Her levels had gone higher and we were told we needed to supplement with formula to get her peeing and pooping more (to rid her body of the bilirubin). I was crushed by the idea of giving her bottles and formula, but we did what we had to do.
[At discharge she was 7lbs 12oz, the next morning she was 7lbs 6oz. :( ]
By midday, the jaundice started making her very lethargic and nearly impossible to wake up to eat.
Mommy was worried to tears all day long, while Daddy stayed in contact with the doctor. Just a couple hours before we would have had to go back to the hospital, she finally woke up enough to eat about an ounce and a half of formula.
We had a few family visitors on Saturday, amidst the chaos and worry.
Not many photos were taken that day because all our energy was focused on getting her to eat.

Camy with her Grandpa (my dad) and Liz.
Camy with her Aunt Amy!
Snuggling with Mommy.
Four Days Old: Sunday
Sunday was rather low key.
We kept our focus on keeping her belly full,
and she started doing better about taking the formula bottles but struggling to nurse.
I tried not to take it personally and remind myself that the formula will be temporary then we can get back on track.

My poor, sweet pumpkin baby (orange because of the jaundice).
Finally letting Daddy feed her (she resisted the first few times he tried).
Andy loves this picture of her with folded hands.
Camy with her cousin, Caitlynn.
Camy with Nana (Andy's mom).
Her sweet little feet.
I loved walking into the room to find my two loves snoozing this way.
Five Days Old: Monday
Sunday evening, Andy's parents brought us this beautiful pink rose from church.
They dedicated the rose to Camryn and placed it on the alter to pray over.
Daddy did a little photo shoot Monday morning to commemorate the gesture.
Monday evening Aunt Amy (Andy's sister) and cousin Ty brought us dinner and let Ty visit with the new baby in the family.
He was very excited...
And wanted to get his hands on her...
Then.. eat her? We'll say he was kissing her..
Six Days Old: Tuesday (Our due date!)
I don't know why we didn't get more photos at 6 days old.
But thats okay, the pictures we did manage to get are the BEST!
I love this smiley series.
Other big news for Tuesday: Her umbilical cord stump fell off at the 930am diaper change!!
She has THE cutest belly button EVER.
Photos to come soon, with her first real bath!

ONE WEEK OLD!! Wednesday
I can't believe she's already a week old.
Seriously, this week has FLOWN by!
It makes me a little sad... slow down, Father Time.
We celebrated her One Week Birthday with our first cloth diaper experience.
I love her cute fluffy butt!
And we decided that we will start doing weekly photos in her rocker, to see the growth over her first year.
[the photos above are in her rocker]

We had such an amazing week with our beautiful daughter.
There have been so many moments that have just taken my breath away.. her sweet sleep-smiles, seeing her in her daddy's arms, cuddling her to sleep, staring into each other's eyes, learning all the things that make her happy (milk, swaddling, moby wrap) and the things that don't (being hungry, getting changed, sponge baths).
We are so so blessed to have such a perfect little soul to love and nurture.
